Context
Applied outcome of Hangul Unread
SEE KOREA is the visual identity for a study abroad program I created and lead, built from the same generative system as Hangul Unread.
The program takes students to Korea, and its premise is in the title: to encounter Korea, and Hangul, as form before meaning. The poster puts the generative system to work in service of that idea. Consonantal forms drawn from Hangul are set loose across the field, organizing by proximity into a composition that reads first as pattern and only then as language. The design asks the viewer to make exactly the shift the program asks of its students.
First run successfully at Columbus State University, the program is now being established at Georgia Southern. Where Hangul Unread isolates the generative system as research, SEE KOREA puts it to use in the world, as identity for a program that carries the same inquiry off the screen and into how students see. The work was recognized as a Winner at the 63rd American INHOUSE Design Awards (GDUSA, 2026).
